ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Taylor Colacion headed in the game-winning goal in the 90th minute to give Sonoma State a 2-1 win over Western Oregon University, in the season opening match for both teams, Thursday, Sept. 2.
Western Oregon fell behind right before the half but answered back on an equalizing goal by
Marina Austin in the 66th minute, to tie the match at one apiece. Marina recorded the third goal of her career after
Taylor Thompson found her right in front of the net for the score.
The two teams played even for the next 24 minutes before Colacion broke the Wolves' hearts with just 26 seconds remaining on the clock.
Goalie
Brittney Rigtrup recorded eight saves for WOU, as Sonoma State assaulted the net with 23 shots. The Seawolves outshot the Wolves 23-7 on the afternoon, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Austin had four of the Wolves' seven shots, three of which were on goal.

Naomi Shimabuku also registered on shot apiece.
Western Oregon's season opening road trip will continue Saturday, Sept. 4 at Cal State Stanislaus. The Wolves will face the Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
