ELLENSBURG, Wash.
- Central Washington scored a trio of timely goals to take the Great Northwest Athletic Conference match from Western Oregon, 3-0, on Thursday, Sept. 23.

The win was the first of the season for the Wildcats (1-5-1, 1-2 GNAC) and dropped the Wolves to 1-6-0.

Marina Austin had four shots (two on goal) to lead the Wolves, who had 13 shots for the match. Kym Witmer also added two shots, as the duo accounted for nearly half of the Wolves' shots. Goal keeper Brittney Rigtrup played all 90 minutes and recorded eight saves.

The Wildcats got goals from Serena Tomaso in the 16th minute, Ellie Eckroth in the 23rd and Amy Pate in the 85th.

Western Oregon controlled possession for much of the second half, as evident by its 5-1 advantage on corner kicks, but were unable to find the net. The Wildcats' only second half score came on a counter attack.

The 13 shots for WOU were the most this season against NCAA Division II competition. However, the Wildcats still outshot the Wolves 21-13.

The Western Oregon soccer team will be at home this Saturday for its first home GNAC match of the season. The match will start at 11:00 a.m.
