Box Score MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon women's soccer team fell to Central Washington, 2-1, on Thursday, Oct. 20th, at WOU Soccer Field.

The Wolves (5-6-3, 4-4-2 GNAC) returned to their home pitch with hopes to continue their winning ways against Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponents, however, the Wildcats (7-3-4, 6-2-2 GNAC) had different plans.

WOU continued to look for opportunities to attack CWU goalie, but was only able to put one ball into the net. In the 84th minute, the Wolves saw an opening. Lindsay Bauman launched the ball from the right corner of the goal box, all the way across to LaChante Horton's location on the left, giving Horton the opportunity to fire the ball in. This was Horton's second goal of the year, and has now scored in back-to-back matches.

The Wildcats' first goal came in the 37th minute as she drew the Wolves' goalie away from the goal, causing her to scramble to get back to her defensive position. Central Washington's second goal came in the 55th minute as Brittany Franks fired the ball in from the center of the goalie's box.

Western Oregon continued to battle to look for opportunities to knot the game up and take it to overtime as they fired off three more shots in the final five minutes, but came up short of scoring the tying goal.

The Wolves will take Friday off as they get set to battle two-time GNAC champions, Seattle Pacific, during homecoming Saturday, Oct. 22nd. Kickoff is 11:00 a.m.

Tickets available for $6 dollars for adults and $4 for non-WOU students. All Western Oregon fans will be admitted to the match for free.
