LACEY, Wash. - - The Western Oregon University women's soccer team continued their win streak as they doubled up on the Saint Martin's Saints shots, earning them a 2-1 victory on Saturday, at the SMU Soccer Field.
Lindsay Bauman came through for the Wolves' as she fired the game-winning goal in the 71st minute. From 15 yards out, Bauman got enough force behind the ball to power it past the Saint Martin's defense, and into the Saints' net. This was her third goal on the season. She is now tied with
Marina Austin for the most goals for the Wolves' thus far in the season at three.
Bauman's goal answered the equalizer by SMU's Ashley Richardson in the 63rd minute.
The Wolves first goal came just as the first half was coming to a close. With one second left to tick off the clock in the 44th minute,
Cassandra Olson was able to rattle the ball free after a scrum in front of the Saints' goal.
Western Oregon's goalie,
Brittney Rigtrup, only had to make one save during Saint Martin's seven shots. The Wolves had 14 shots of their own at the end of the match.
The Wolves will continue their road trip as they head to Montana State Billings on Thursday, Oct. 13th. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
