MONMOUTH, Ore –
The Western Oregon women's soccer team looked to finish strong on senior day, and they did just that with a 1-0 win against Saint Martin's on Nov. 6th, at the WOU Soccer Field.

Senior Brittney Rigtrup, and the Wolves' defense worked together for one of the strongest showings of the year. Western Oregon's defense allowed the Saints to fire off only seven shots with Rigtrup making three saves in the process.

“Brittney was big time for us today,” said women's soccer head coach Steve Ancheta. “That's what seniors do, and for her last game she was excited.”

Saint Martin's three shots on goal were big opportunities for Rigtrup, as she had to leave her feet multiple times. In the process Rigtrup was able to secure her sixth shutout, the most shutouts for her in a single season.

The lone Wolves' goal came in the 39th minute as Katrina Kem found the best look during a battle for position off a Lindsay Bauman corner kick. Kem found just enough opening to watch the ball dribble past the Saints' goalie and into the net for her second goal of her final season. It was the third career goal for the senior in her playing career with the Wolves.

“These seniors are a great bunch of girls, who do great in their academics,” Ancheta concluded. “They look forward to what's to come in the future.”

With this win, Western Oregon finishes with a record of 6-8-4 overall and 5-6-3 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
