LAS VEGAS
- Western Oregon fell 4-1 to No. 16 Grand Canyon in its season opener at the Desert Stinger Classic on Friday (Feb. 11).

Jessica Wood gave the Wolves a complete game effort in the loss. She gave up four hits and four run (two earned) while striking out five and walking one.

Grand Canyon got on the board first with two unearned runs in the first. They would add a single run on a homer in the second and one more in the fifth.

The Wolves scored their run in the third inning on a Bailey Rueck sacrifice fly which plated Ali Parkerson.

Rueck and Parkerson were the only two Wolves to collect hits in the game as both went 1-for-2.

Kirstin Linert earned the complete game win for the 'Lopes. She allowed just two hits and one unearned run while striking out 10.
