MONMOUTH, Ore. – Brittney Rigtrup earned her second straight shutout on the season, as the Wolves battled hard throughout 110 minutes to end in 0-0 draw with Concordia, on Monday, Sept. 12th at the WOU Soccer Field.

The Wolves (1-2-1) senior goalie, Brittney Rigtrup, earned her second shutout of the season. With this shutout, she only needs one more to match the three she set as a freshman.

“I felt that Britney played hard,” said WOU head coach, Steve Ancheta. “Brittney came up huge on two saves, and had a solid game overall.”

However, this shutout did not come easy for Rigtrup, as she had to stay on her toes through multiple Cavalier attacks.

One major attack came during the second half when the ball shot past Rigtrup and into the net. The play was quickly called dead and the goal was waved off when the referee ruled the Concordia attacker offsides.

Western Oregon's defense hardly missed a beat in the first contest of the year on their home pitch. They kept the Cavaliers to only three shots on goal throughout the contest, but were outshot by Concordia, 13-7.

Five of the Wolves starters recorded shots, including Lindsay Bauman who led the way with two shots.

Western Oregon returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 15th, when they open conference play against Northwest Nazarene, kickoff at 3:00 p.m.

“I feel we are prepared overall to start Great Northwest Athletic Conference play,” said Ancheta. “I feel that the GNAC is one of the top conferences in the USA. The games are going to look a lot like today, very tight, with no one blowing out the other.”
