[9.15 WOU vs. NNU Game Notes]

This weekend:

After a tough battle with Concordia that led to a 0-0 draw on Monday, the Western Oregon University women's soccer team looks to get their first victory at home. The Wolves will be welcoming in Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponents Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Sept. 15th, and Montana State Billings on Saturday, Sept. 17th. Kickoff against NNU is 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. against MSUB.

The Wolves:
The Wolves currently have a record of 1-2-1 on the season. After opening their 2011 season in Northern California, and at home against Concordia, they look to take on the GNAC at full speed. WOU defense looks to hold their conference opponents to low scoring matches as they have only allowed two goals over their four matches.

Marina Austin continues to pace the Wolves in the shots category. She currently sits on top with eight shots. Kymberly Witmer leads the team with five shots on goal, and six shots overall.

Rigtrup makes the net seem as small as a dime:
Western Oregon senior goalie, Brittney Rigtrup, has been a force to reckon with for whomever comes into her goal box this season. After giving up only two goals thus far, she has been able to settle down and keep the ball from hitting the back of the net. With Monday's draw against Concordia, she earned her second straight shutout this year, and she is well on her way to tying her season high of three shutouts, that she set as a freshman in 2007. Rigtrup has also gone the distance so far this season by not allowing a goal for 200 minutes, while starting in goal for all four of the Wolves matches.

With her two shutouts, Brittney is tied for second in the GNAC rankings, just behind Danielle Gordon (Montana State Billings), who has three.

A look at Northwest Nazarene:
The Crusaders currently stand with a record of 2-2 on the season. They won their last match as they shut out Trinity Lutheran University, 4-0, on Sept. 10th. Yturbe Autumn led the way for NNU during the match as she scored two of the four goals scored.

Northwest Nazarene's Jenny Field currently leads the GNAC in points (10), and goals (four).

The Wolves currently have an all-time record against the Crusaders of 19-7-2. Their last victory against NNU came in 2010 when they won 3-2 in overtime at the WOU Soccer Field.

A look at Montana State Billings:
MSUB currently has a record of 3-1 overall, before starting conference play. They will be opening GNAC play against Saint Martin's University on Thursday, Sept. 15th. MSUB lost their last match against University of Mary, by a score of 2-1 in overtime, which was scored in the second minute of the overtime.

Currently Heidi Greenback leads the Yellowjacks in goals (four) and assists (two).

Currently the Wolves are 3-6-0 against the Yellowjackets. The last time Western Oregon was able to gain a victory against the Montana State was in 2008 in Monmouth, when they won 3-0.

Tickets:
Tickets for the match are available at the WOU Soccer Field for $6 for adults and $4 for non-wou students. All WOU students will get in for free with proper school I.D.

Sports Passes are also available, where you will be able to receive a general admission ticket to all WOU events, except football, for $75. Contact the Wolves ticket office at 503.838.8449.
