ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington's Nicole Laughlin fired a late game-winning goal for the Wildcats to lead them past Western Oregon University, 2-1, on Thursday, Sept. 22nd, at the CWU Soccer Field.

During the final 10 minutes of play, the Wildcats were able to steal back the lead, and keep Western Oregon (2-3-2, 1-1-1 GNAC) from gaining another chance to score again.

In the 81st minute, WOU's Lindsay Bauman received a nice pass from Marina Austin, which allowed her to float her first goal of the season over the CWU goalkeeper. This was Western's first goal of the match, which also tied the game at one goal each.

The Wildcats (3-2-2, 2-1-0 GNAC) did not allow the Wolves to enjoy their game-tying goal very long, as it only took Central Washington 63 seconds to take back the lead and gain the game-winning goal. Laughlin received a pass from a fellow teammate that allowed her to fire a shot into the goal from 22 yards out. The Wolves were able to fire off five more shots in the period, however, none of them connected with the back of the Wildcats goal.

Multiple Wolves got on the shooting frenzy as five players had multiple shots as WOU outshot CWU 30 to 14, including 13 to four in shot on goal. Bauman led the way as she fired off eight shots of her own, with three shots on goal, and Wolves' lone goal.

The Wolves' offensive had 10 shots in the first half, and 20 in the second. Central Washington was only able to fire off seven per period.

WOU will have Friday off as they head west to battle two-time defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference champions, Seattle Pacific on Saturday, September 24th. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
