SEATTLE, Wash. – The Western Oregon University women's soccer team suffers their second loss in a row, and their third shutout on the season, as Seattle Pacific University comes out firing to win, 3-0, at Interbay Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 24th.
After a day off for travel between their last match at Central Washington on Thursday, the Wolves looked to bounce back and give the Falcons (7-1-0, 4-0-0 GNAC) their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference loss in 2011. However, the Falcons had other plans.
It only took SPU until the fourth minute to shoot a ball into the back of the net. Kelsey Jenkins was able to dribble a ball into the right side of WOU net from 15 feet out.
Seattle Pacific would then take a 2-0 lead going into the end of the first half, as they scored again in the 33rd minute.
The third, and final goal by the Falcons came in the 88th minute when Ali Martin got a header from seven yards out.
Western Oregon (2-4-2, 1-2-1) will head home for two matches against GNAC opponents, Western Washington (Sept. 29th) and Simon Fraser (Oct. 1st). The match against Western Washington will kick off at 3:00 p.m. The match up against Simon Fraser will kick off at 1:00 p.m.
