MONMOUTH, Ore.
- The Western Oregon volleyball team got back in the win column with a three-set sweep of Central Washington on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Western Oregon (5-6, 4-3 GNAC) posted a .315 hitting percentage in the match and never hit below .245 in any set. They posted 18 kills in the first set, 17 in the second and 14 in the deciding third set.

"Fifteen kills is the magic number," explained Western Oregon head coach Brad Saindon. "When you get 15 kills you win about 99% of the matches, and a lot of that credit goes to LesLyne (Satele).

The freshman setter from Honolulu, Hawaii had 41 assists in the three sets and helped guide four of her teammates to eight or more kills, with each hitting over .220.

"LesLyne did a great job finding all our hitters," Saindon explained. "She set quick, she set slide, she set behind her, she set outside and with the speed we run all our stuff I don't think the defense knew where we were going. She was really good at orchestrating all our hitters and consequently all the hitter benefitted with really good numbers."

Becky Blees led the Wolves in hitting percentage at .533 as she recorded eight kills without an error. Corynn Kopra posted a .400 hitting percentage with nine kills and just one error in 20 attempts. Krissi Kemper also had nine kills and registered a .353 hitting percentage. Danielle Reese posted her eighth straight game with double-figure kills, as she had a team-leading 13 finishers. She also had 11 digs for her for her fifth double-double of the season.

"That was a terrific match by us," Saindon explained. "Without question it was the best match we played. The level of play was really good."

Western Oregon never trailed by more than three points in any of the sets, including trailing just once in the two sets before the break (4-3 first set). The win broke a three-match slide for the Wolves.

"After three weeks on the road it is just wonderful being home," Saindon noted. "(There were) great fans and great student support. It is just great to be in our own gym."

Central Washington (8-6, 2-4 GNAC) was led by 14 kills from Jordan Offult and 16 digs from Chelsie Vea.

Western Oregon will now prepare to host Northwest Nazarene (6-4, 3-2 GNAC) on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:00 p.m.

"We have a tough match on Saturday so I hope everyone decides to come back," concluded Saindon.
