Box Score MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon football team set a school record for most points scored since the move to NCAA Division II and set an all-time record for total yards (696) as the Wolves rolled to a 66-20 Homecoming victory over Dixie State in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action on Saturday. With the victory, WOU improved to 4-3 overall, 4-2 in league play, as the Red Storm fell to 3-4 overall, 3-3 in conference action.

Senior quarterback Cody VonAppen was 16-of-27 for 424 yards and four touchdowns as he connected on touchdown strikes of 94, 71, 37 and six yards as the Wolves captured their fourth-straight win and avenged an early season loss to the Red Storm.

For the second straight contest, freshman running back Joe Harris would eclipse the 100-yard mark as he ran for 128 yards on just 11 carries while Kenneth Haynes added 69 yards and a touchdown for the Wolves.

Tyrell Williams added 197 yards receiving with two touchdowns, including one for 71 yards, as Tyler Davis eclipsed 100-yards receiving on the day with two catches for 106 yards and a score.

WOU blitzed out to an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter as the Wolves got on the board on their second play from scrimmage. With 11:47 remaining in the quarter, VonAppen found T. Williams streaking down the sideline to connect on a 71-yard touchdown strike to give the Wolves an early, 7-0 lead. Kenneth Haynes added a 26-yard touchdown run while Mark Moore hauled in a six-yard touchdown pass in the quarter as the Wolves built a 21-point cushion.

Dixie State would manage to chip away at the lead and would eventually pull within 11 points as Mitch Frei would score on a 39-yard catch and run from Griff Robles with 6:23 left in the third quarter.

The Wolves, however, would respond as WOU exploded for 35 straight points to cruise to a 46-point victory over the Red Storm.

WOU's defense recorded two touchdowns during the final run as the Wolves recovered a pair of fumbles in the endzone. Scotland Foss recovered a Coulter Mastebroek fumble in the endzone after the senior defensive back had the ball stripped during a long interception return to give the Wolves a 52-20 lead while Shaka Shaw capped the scoring when he fell on a botched hand-off for six points with 2:07 left in the game.

Sipili Tuigamalala led the Wolves defense with six tackles as the Red Storm finished the contest with 326 yards of total offense. Kraig Akins added 1.5 sacks for WOU as Michael Akins recorded a sack and fumble recovery to go along with five tackles in the win.

Robles led the way for Dixie State, going 24-of-45 for 276 yards and three touchdowns as Frei added 129 receiving yards for the Red Storm in a losing effort.

WOU's total of 66 points is the most since WOU defeated Saint Martin's, 101-0, during the 1934 season and is the second-highest total in school history. The 696 yards of total offense eclipsed the old mark of 684 set against Simon Fraser during the 2010 season.

WOU will look to make it five wins in a row as the Wolves return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when they travel to Burnaby, B.C., to face Simon Fraser at 2:00 p.m.
