TUKWILA, Wash. – The Western Oregon women's soccer team saw its season end at the hands of Western Washington as the Wolves fell to the Vikings, 2-0, in the semifinals of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship on Thursday night. With the loss, WOU finishes the year with a mark of 8-10-1 overall as WWU improves to 16-3-0 on the season and advances to Saturday's title game.

The Vikings managed to grab an early lead as Kristin Maris' goal in the 13th-minute gave WWU a 1-0 advantage. The forward collected a loose ball inside the box, found some space and fired a shot into the lower left-hand corner of the net for her eighth goal of the season.

WOU was unable to connect on a couple of chances during the remainder of the half as the Wolves trailed, 1-0, going into halftime.

The Wolves could not muster the equalizer early in the second half and the Vikings extended the lead to two goals as Delanee Nilles connected on a shot in the 70th minute. With WOU unable to clear a cross into the penalty area, Nilles collected the ball and shot it past a diving goalkeeper and into the net for her fifth goal of the season.

WOU would not find an answer as the Wolves season would come to an end.

The run of play was even throughout the match as the Vikings held a slight, 13-11 edge in shots while the Wolves held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Lindsay Bauman led the WOU attack with six shots as Nikki Caudill added two shots on goal for the Wolves.

Hillarly Lutz made four saves in net while taking the loss in goal as Jamie Arthurs picked up the shutout victory while making four stops.

With the victory, WWU advanced to the GNAC championship match and will face the winner of Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2:00 p.m.
