LAS VEGAS - Four Western Oregon pitchers combined to hold the Academy of Art to one run on four hits to lead the Wolves to a 2-1 win in their final game at the Desert Stinger Classic.
Hannah Pomeroy went the first three innings allowing no runs and just two hits.
Myranda Sawyer (1-1) and
Jourdan Williams followed with one inning apiece.
Eryka Brill closed out the game with a perfect two innings of work for her first collegiate save.
The Wolves would get all the runs the pitching staff would need in the first inning when they sent eight hitters to the plate. The first three batters of the game reached base for the Wolves, then following a strike out,
Ali Parkerson hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring in
Andrea Bailey from third. Then after
Danyelle Hutchison walked to reload the bases,
Kendra George drew another walk to put WOU in front for good at 2-0.
Western Oregon will now return to the Northwest to begin Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. The Wolves will open their conference season Feb. 18th at Saint Martin's.
