Softball travels to CWU for four-game series

Wolves travel to Selah, Wash., to take on Wildcats in four-game series.

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon softball team returns to action this week as the Wolves travel to Selah, Wash., to play Central Washington in a four-game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 25, at noon. The four-game series will conclude with a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 11:00 a.m.

The series was originally scheduled to be played on the CWU campus; however, had to be moved to Carlon Park due to unplayable field conditions.

Western Oregon enters the week with a record of 1-8 on the season after falling to Saint Martin's in four games last week. Amanda Evola leads the Wolves at the plate as she leads the team with a .481 batting average and 11 RBI. Ashley Worthey has added nine RBI for the Wolves and ranks second on the squad in the category.

Central Washington enters the week with a mark of 4-5 on the season, 3-1 in conference play, after the Wildcats took three-of-four games from Northwest Nazarene last week. Liz Jusko leads CWU at the plate with 10 hits and a .385 average through the first nine games. Maria Gau has been the top pitcher for the Wildcats so far this season, posting a 2-3 record and a 2.08 ERA through 30.1 innings of work.

Following the series against the Wildcats, Western Oregon returns home to open a four-game series with a doubleheader against Northwest Nazarene on Friday, March 2, at 1:00 p.m.
