ELLENSBURG, Wash. -
Andrea Bailey went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and
Hannah Pomeroy pitched a complete game to lead Western Oregon to its first win in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a 7-1 victory over Central Washington in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 25. The Wolves responded for the win after dropping the opener 8-4.
Game 1
Carrina Wagner went 2-for-3 with two home runs and six RBI to lead Central Washington to the 8-4 win in the opener.
The Wolves hit three home runs in the game to account for three of their four runs.
Amanda Evola knocked out her second home run of the season in the fourth inning to get the Wolves within one at 2-1. But Central Washington would score six in the bottom of the third to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
Ashley Cashin and
Danielle Harcourt would both register their first homers of the season later in the game.
Game 2
The Wolves got clutch hitting and strong pitching from
Hannah Pomeroy to take game two 7-1. Pomeroy pitched a complete game allowing five hits and just an unearned to earn her first win of the season.
Andrea Bailey scored three runs and went 3-for-4 with a home run out of the leadoff spot.
Amanda Evola also crossed the plate twice. She knocked out her second homer of the game in the third inning and finished the game 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
Ashley Worthey added two RBI on a single in the fifth.
The Wolves never trailed in the game. They put up one run in the second, two more in the third and then exploded for three in the fifth. They added an insurance run in the sixth to go up 7-0.
