MONMOUTH, Ore. – After last weekend's series was postponed, the Western Oregon softball team returns to action for the first time in two weeks when the Wolves travel to Billings, Mont., to face Montana State Billings in a four-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 24, at 12:00 p.m. The series concludes with a doubleheader on Sunday, March 25, at 12:00 p.m.
The Wolves enter the weekend with a mark of 5-12 on the season after splitting a pair of games against Concordia last week.
Amanda Evola leads the Wolves attack as the freshman leads the team with a .418 batting average, four home runs and 19 RBI.
Andrea Bailey is also off to a strong start on the season, hitting .333 with two home runs and six RBI.
Hannah Pomeroy has seen the most action in the circle for the Wolves, posting a 2-3 record in 30.1 innings of work.
Montana State Billings enters the weekend with a mark of 16-5 overall and is in first-place in the GNAC with a 13-3 league mark. The Yellowjackets have won seven straight after sweeping Northwest Nazarene in a four-game series last weekend.
Nicole Wilkerson leads eight players batting over .300 as she enters the series with a .449 batting average. Meanwhile, Meg Harasymczuk leads the team with nine home runs and 28 RBI while hitting .378 on the year.
Kasie Conder leads the way for MSU Billings in the circle, posting a perfect 4-0 record with a 2.40 ERA in 23.1 innings of work.
Following the series with the Yellowjackets, Western Oregon will step out of conference play to travel to Turlock, Calif., for the Tournament of Champions. The Wolves will open a weekend of at least six games on Friday, March 30, when they face Dominican at 10:00 a.m.
