Softball travels to Concordia for DH on Friday

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon softball team steps out of conference play as the Wolves return to action on Friday, March 9, when they travel to Portland, Ore., to face Concordia in a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.

The Wolves enter the doubleheader with a mark of 4-11 on the season after WOU fell to Northwest Nazarene in a pair of games last week. Freshman Amanda Evola continues to lead the Wolves attack as she leads the team with a .417 average, four home runs and 17 RBI. Amanda Bailey is also swinging the bat well for WOU as she ranks second on the team with a .353 average while adding two home runs and six RBI.

Myranda Sawyer has seen the most action in the circle for the Wolves, leading the team with 27.1 innings pitched while appearing in eight games and posting a 1-3 record. Meanwhile, Hannah Pomeroy enters the series with a 2-2 mark while seeing 24.1 innings of work.

Concordia enters the two-game series with a mark of 8-10 overall as the Cavaliers have won three straight after a win over British Columbia last week. Laura Luther leads the way for Concordia as she ranks second on the squad with a .426 average and leads the team with six home runs and 20 RBI.

Following the non-conference doubleheader, the Wolves will return to conference play on Saturday, March 17, when they open a four-game series by hosting Western Washington in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
