Andrea Bailey and
Amanda Evola each had two hits for Western Oregon but the Wolves ran into Sonoma State's all-tournament selection Samantha Lipperd, who pitched the Seawolves to a 4-0 win in the Platinum Bracket of the Mizuno Tournament of Champions.
Lipperd struck out 10 Wolves over seven innings while giving up seven hits and three walks.
Hannah Pomeroy pitched a complete game for Western Oregon. She allowed nine hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out two. She held SSU scoreless through the first three innings before the Seawolves picked up two in the fourth, and one apiece in the fifth and sixth.
The Wolves will be home next weekend to host Simon Fraser in a four-game series Apr. 6-7. Friday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 p.m., and Saturday's doubleheader will start at noon.
