MONMOUTH, Ore. -
Kendra George went 3-for-4 including hitting a walk off home run in the opener as Western Oregon extended its season-best winning streak to eight games with 2-0 and 6-3 victories over Central Washington on Saturday, Apr. 14.
The wins evened the Wolves' Great Northwest Athletic Conference record at 12-12 (16-21) and dropped Central Washington to 13-24 (9-16 GNAC).
Game 1
Kendra George had a once in a career moment she will never forget in game one. The senior from Roseburg, Ore. stepped to the plate with the game deadlocked at 0-0 in the bottom of the seventh and hammered the first pitch she saw over the center field wall to give Western Oregon the 2-0 win.
Hannah Pomeroy (6-7) kept Central Washington at bay all game to give George and the Wolves the chance to win it late. Pomeroy pitched a complete game giving up seven hits and no runs while striking out two. She pitched out of trouble a couple times including stranding Wildcats at second and third after they got there with one out.
George's homer was one of just three hits WOU got in the game as Maria Gau matched Pomeroy all the way. Western Oregon was hitless until
Amanda Evola singled to center in the sixth and
Ali Parkerson started the seventh inning rally with a single to left.
Western Oregon had three steals in the game while Wolves' catcher
Ashley Worthey threw out two Wildcats trying to steal.
Game 2
Jourdan Williams and
Amanda Evola each homered to lead Western Oregon to a 6-3 win in game two.
Williams gave Western Oregon and pitcher
Brittany Reeves the early lead with a two-run shot in the bottom of the first. Evola, who finished the game 3-for-4, would lead off the third with a solo home run and the Wolves would then add two more in the inning on a two-out single
Desiree Villegas.
Reeves (4-3) would never relinquish the early lead en route to winning her fourth straight decision. She pitched a complete game giving up nine hits and three runs. All three runs came in the fifth with WOU leading 6-0 on a three-run home run by Carrina Wagner. She needed just 80 pitches to get through the game.
George kept her hot hitting up with two doubles in the game.

Western Oregon will be back in action tomorrow when Western Washington comes to town for a doubleheader starting at 11:00 a.m.
