LONG BEACH, Calif. -
Amanda Schumaker threw a 158-11 in the javelin at the Beach Invitational to shatter the Western Oregon record by over four feet. That mark improves her NCAA Auto qualifying standard to the second-best mark in Division II this season. Schumaker, who was an All-American in the javelin last season, also registered the fifth-best mark in the history of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with that throw.
Dan Sprinkle posted a personal best time in the 3000m steeplechase for the third time this season. He registered a time of 9:03.41 at the Beach Invite to shave over four seconds off his NCAA provisional qualifying time and finish second in the race. Sprinkle now stands 10th in Division II this season with that time.
Chris Olsen, who earned an NCAA provisional qualifying time on Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, shaved .09 seconds off that time to get down to 1:52.19 on Saturday at the Beach Invite, and solidify his No. 3 spot on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list.
Kody Rhodes registered a season-best time of 15.18 in the men's 110m hurdles to move into third place on the 2012 GNAC performance list.
