LACEY, Wash. – The Western Oregon soccer team captured its third-straight shutout victory with a 1-0 win over Saint Martin's in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday afternoon. With the win, WOU improves to 6-2-3 overall and 4-2-1 in league play.

The victory gave the Wolves their eighth shutout of the season, tying a school record as goalie Amanda Rose Johnson picked up her sixth shutout of the season. WOU has allowed only four goals this season as the Wolves currently rank No. 8 in the nation with a 0.36 goals against average.

After a scoreless first half, Makana Pundyke gave WOU the only goal it would need as she headed in a cross from Taylor Higa in the 48th-minute. The game-winner was the seventh of the season for Pundyke as she leads the league in goals.

The WOU defense would do the rest, shutting down Saint Martin's as Johnson only had to make two saves in the victory. The contest was the fourth-straight shutout for WOU as the Wolves haven't allowed a goal in the last 416:45.

WOU, which entered the week ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA West Regional rankings (the top six advance to the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship),will look to make it four-straight shutout victories as the Wolves travel to Nampa, Idaho, to face Northwest Nazarene at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
