MONMOUTH, Ore. – For the third consecutive contest, the Western Oregon women's soccer team shutout its opponent as the Wolves defeated Montana State Billings, 2-0, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, WOU improves to 5-2-3 overall, 3-2-1 in conference play, while the Yellowjackets fall to 3-4-1 overall, 2-4-0 in league action.

Amanda Rose Johnson made three saves in net for the Wolves as she teamed with the backline for her fifth shutout of the season. The shutout was the seventh of the year for the Wolves, the most for the program since 2002 and leaves the team just one shy of the school record for most shutouts in a single season.

Savannah Bogan gave the Wolves all the scoring they would need as her third minute goal gave WOU a 1-0 lead. Off a pass from Makana Pundyke, Bogan beat the MSUB goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation for the early lead.

The score would remain the same until the 58th-minute as Pundyke would put the finishing touched on the win with a shot into the back of the net to give the Wolves a 2-0. The goal was the sixth of the season for Pundyke, the most in a single season for a WOU player since Rachelle Kliewer scored eight in 2009.

WOU controlled possession throughout the match, holding a 13-5 advantage in shots, as Pundyke led all players with six shots during the contest.

Alisa Sagdahl had two shots to lead MSUB while Megan Wade made two saves while taking the loss for the Yellowjackets.

WOU will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 10, as the Wolves travel to Lacey, Wash., to take on Saint Martin's at 3:00 p.m.
