MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University football team plays its final game of the 2013 regular season at Humboldt State University (Calif.) Saturday.

The Wolves (6-4, 6-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) are vying for the 17th seven-win season in the program's 86-year history. It would be the fourth since 2000, with all four coming under Head Coach Arne Ferguson. The last seven-win total came in 2010, when WOU went 7-4.

Standing in the Wolves way this week is Humboldt State (0-10, 0-9 GNAC). The Lumberjacks will be looking to end their season with their lone victory on Senior Day. The preseason favorite to win the GNAC, Humboldt State has been plagued with key injuries all season. HSU has played teams tough this season, as four of its games have been decided by single digits.

On Homecoming this season, Western Oregon pulled away from the Lumberjacks with 21 fourth quarter points in a 38-21 win in Monmouth. Joe Harris ran for a season-best 182 yards on the ground on 24 carries. WOU amassed 232 rushing yards. Harris had a 7.6 yards per carry average, and found the endzone for a pair of scores. Ryan Bergman completed 19 of his 37 passes for 295 yards. The junior threw two touchdown passes and ran in another. Antoinne Wafer grabbed three passes for a team-high 80 yards. Dustin Hurd and Michael Reeve both also caught four passes.

Western Oregon forced five HSU turnovers. The Wolves' recovered three fumbles and intercepted two passes. The Wolves' Shane Kuenzi had a team-high 10 tackles, forced a fumble, had an interception, and broke-up a pass. Dominic Akina also had an interception and eight tackles. The Jacks' defense forced a pair of WOU turnovers.

Humboldt State gained 455 yards of offense. Spencer Phillips was 25-of-39 with one interception and one touchdown. Nwadibia finished with 130 receiving yards on nine catches. Sanders gained 59 yards on 18 carries.

Last week in Burnaby, B.C., Simon Fraser defeated HSU, 38-17. After spotting the Clan a 24-0 lead, Humboldt State scored 17 unanswered points, but a 99-yard kickoff return led to the eventual loss. Chase Krivashei made 12 catches for 179 yards, moving him into second place on the Jacks' single-season receptions list with 86. Kash Johnson had his best outing of the season at running back, rushing 20 times for 60 yards and a touchdown. Casey Mintz completed 21 of 45 passes for 340 yards, throwing one interception.

Krivashei enters the season finale only two catches shy of the Lumberjack record established in 2004. The freshman set a GNAC single-game record for all-purpose yards with 331 yards last week. Krivashei also had 113 yards on five kickoff returns and 25 on four punts. He ranks second in the GNAC and 23rd in NCAA Div. II in all-purpose yards (159.3) and is the conference leader in receptions with 86 for 845 yards. Krivashei is No. 8 nationally and first in the GNAC in receptions per game at 8.6.

Humboldt State's kicking game continues to lead the GNAC and gain national recognition. Matt Bruder is 18th in the country with an average of 1.2 field goals per game, and Chris Campbell is 33rd, averaging 40.8 yards per punt.

Last week in Monmouth, WOU honored its seniors with a 32-26 win over Central Washington in the final home game of the season. Western Oregon moved into a tie with CWU for second place in the conference standings. The Wolves amassed 528 yards of offense, behind 405 through the air from the GNAC co-Offensive Player of the Week Bergman. The junior completed 21 of his 39 attempts with four touchdowns and an interception. Wafer and Hurd both had 124 receiving yards. Harris ran for 140 yards. Kuenzi led all players with 12 tackles.

Saturday's Humboldt State and WOU matchup is the 37th all-time. The Wolves hold a slim 21-15 advantage in a series that dates back to a 31-0 Oregon Normal victory in Arcata in 1929. Western Oregon has won three straight in the series, including last season's finale in Monmouth. The Wolves have won 12 of the 17 matches against HSU under Ferguson. Since 2000, Western Oregon is 6-5 in Arcata against the Lumberjacks.

Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Live video and stats are available on WOUWolves.com. Mark Gilman will provide play-by-play locally on KLOO 1340 AM and worldwide on KLOOAM.com.
