ROHNERT PARK, Calif.  – The Western Oregon softball team jumped out to a four-run lead and held on to claim a 4-3 victory over Chadron State in the final game of the Desert Stinger Invitational on Sunday. With the victory, WOU improved to 3-6 on the season.

Danielle Harcourt led the Wolves in the victory, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI as the Wolves held a 2-0 lead going into a wild seventh inning.

WOU put a pair of important insurance runs on the board when Melanie Pfeiffer scored on a wild pitch and Harcourt's sacrifice fly to left field scored Hannah Pomeroy to give the Wolves a 4-0 lead heading into Chadron State's final at-bat.

The insurance runs turned out to be vital as the Eagles rallied for three runs in the seventh before the Wolves claimed the one-run victory. After a pair of home runs cut the score to 4-3, WOU starter Jourdan Williams managed to retire the final two Chadron State batters to give the Wolves the win.

Williams tossed a complete game for WOU, earning the victory after allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings of work.

Aryn Grywusiewicz took the loss for Chadron State after allowing two runs on six hits in 5.2 innings of work.

WOU will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 19, when the Wolves travel to Kaneohe, Hawai'i for a doubleheader against Hawai'i Pacific at 1:00 p.m.
