MONMOUTH, Ore.- The Western Oregon men's basketball team returns to action this week as the Wolves resume conference play when they travel to Burnaby, B.C., for a contest against Simon Fraser on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:00 p.m. before travelling to No. 2 Western Washington on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7:00 p.m.

The Wolves seek to snap a two game losing streak with losses at home last week to Alaska Fairbanks and Alaska Anchorage as they enter the week with an overall record of 9-11 and a record of 4-8 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

Redshirt freshman forward Andy Avgi continues to lead the Wolves and ranks fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game while leading the team in rebounding with 5.4 per game. Other players in double figures include senior center Kolton Nelson (10.7 ppg), Rodney Webster (10.6 ppg) and Devon Alexander (10 ppg). The Wolves rank sixth in the league in scoring at 75.2 points per contest.

On the defensive end, Alexander leads the Wolves and the league in steals (48) while Nelson leads the team in blocked shots (11) as WOU allows 78.7 points per game. 

Simon Fraser enters the week with an overall record of 6-15 and a record of 1-12 in GNAC play after they lost on the road to Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene.

Junior guard Taylor Dunn leads the Clan in scoring, averaging 13.0 ppg.  Senior guard Matt Raivio leads the Clan in assists (2.6 per game) and steals (27) and junior forward David Gebru leads the team with 2.6 blocks per game. As a team, the Clan average 75.3 ppg and give up an average of 76.8 ppg.

No. 2 Western Washington, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, remains undefeated with a record of 22-0 overall and 13-0 in GNAC play.

Senior guard John Allen leads the Vikings in scoring with 16.7 ppg, assists (4.0 apg), and steals (31). Junior forward Austin Bragg leads the team in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and senior center Chris Mitchell and sophomore forward Anye Turner each lead the Vikings in blocked shots with 27 apiece. The Vikings average 87.1 ppg while giving up only 68.3 ppg.

Earlier this season, the Wolves defeated the Clan and fell to the Vikings at home. Last season, they split the series against the Vikings and swept the Clan.
 
Following this week, the Wolves return home to host Montana State Billings on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. and Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2:00 p.m.
