MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon softball team returns to action this week as the Wolves open an eight-game road trip when they travel to Kaneohe, Hawai'i, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, for a doubleheader with Hawai'i Pacific at 2:00 p.m.
WOU enters the week with a record of 3-6 on the season after posting a 2-3 record at the Desert Stinger Invitational. The Wolves dropped their first three contests before rebounding with victories over UC Colorado Springs and Chadron State to close out the weekend.
Amanda Evola leads the WOU attack as the sophomore leads the team with a .417 batting average through eight games. Evola leads the team with six RBI and one home run and has posted an impressive .448 on-base percentage.
The Wolves are hitting .257 as a team as
Melanie Pfeiffer (.306),
Desiree Villegas (.333) and
Dariety McAnally (.333) are all hitting over .300 for the Wolves.
In the circle, WOU has posted a 4.39 ERA through the first nine games of the season as
Hannah Pomeroy has seen the most action for the Wolves. Pomeroy enters the road trip with a mark of 1-2 in 25.2 innings of work.
Stephanie Morgan is also off to a strong start for WOU, recording a 1.85 ERA and 1-1 record in 11.1 innings of work.
HPU enters the doubleheader with a record of 5-1 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with Simon Fraser on Saturday. The Sea Warriors opened the season with five straight wins before falling to the Clan.
Following the doubleheader, WOU will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 21, when the Wolves open play at the Hawai'i Hilo Round Robin against Missouri Western State at 12:00 p.m.
