NAMPA, Idaho – The Western Oregon softball team continued its great start to Great Northwest Athletic Conference play as the Wolves extended their win streak to eight with a sweep of Northwest Nazarene on Friday afternoon. The Wolves won game one, 6-2, in extra innings before cruising to an 11-4 win in game two.

The victories allowed WOU to improve to 15-12 overall, 6-0 in league play, while the Crusaders fell to 5-20 overall, 0-10 in conference action.

Jourdan Williams was the hero for WOU in game one as she broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth inning when she blasted a three-run home run down the left-field line to give the Wolves a commanding, 4-1 lead in the final inning.

The home run was the second of the season for Williams as Amanda Evola and Melanie Pfeifer scored on the play following back-to-back singles to start the rally.

WOU would tack on an insurance run in the inning when Desiree Villegas scored on a RBI single by Bridjet Box as the Wolves would take a 5-1 lead into the Crusaders final at bat.

NNU managed to score a run in the bottom of the inning; however, Hannah Pomeroy shut the door on the Crusaders and improved to 8-3 on the season after allowing only one earned run and four hits in the complete game effort.

The Crusaders jumped out to an early, 1-0, lead in the first before WOU tied the game on Box's sacrifice fly to score Pomeroy in the top of the second.

WOU had 11 hits in the game one win as six different Wolves scored in the win.

In game two, WOU would leave no doubt about the final outcome as the Wolves jumped out to a 10-0 lead with three runs in the first followed by seven in the second.

Williams would highlight the three-run first inning as her second home run of the day and third of the season gave the Wolves a 3-0 lead. Pfeiffer opened the scoring with a RBI triple while Evola added a RBI ground out for the Wolves early lead.

After NNU was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning, WOU exploded for seven in the second to take a 10-run lead.

Evola, Williams and Danielle Harcourt all had RBI in the inning as the Wolves cruised to their eighth win in a row.

WOU exploded for 15 hits in the game as Williams led the Wolves attack, going 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. Villegas added three hits in the win as four WOU players recorded at least two hits.
