Box Score 2 ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Western Oregon softball team saw its eight-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Central Washington on Sunday as the Wolves dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Wildcats, falling in game one, 10-4, before a wild, 15-14 loss in game two. With the losses, WOU falls to 15-14 overall, 6-2 in league play, while the Wildcats improve to 6-9 overall, 4-4 in conference play.
In game one, after allowing a run in the bottom of the first inning, WOU responded with three in the second to grab a 3-1 lead.

Bridjet Box to give the Wolves a two-run advantage.
The Wildcats responded with six in the bottom of the inning; however, as CWU would grab control of the game. Jill McDaniels provided the key blast for the Wildcats as she hit a grand slam with two outs to make the score 7-3.
McDaniels would prove to be the star of the contest as she finished the game going 3-for-4, with two home runs, two runs and seven RBI while Michaela Hazlett went 3-for-4 three runs and two RBI for the Wildcats.
WOU would manage a run in the seventh on
Ashlie Gardner's home run to right field; however, it would not be enough as the Wolves saw their win streak snapped.
Hannah Pomeroy took the loss for WOU as she fell to 8-4 on the season after allowing five earned runs on 13 hits in six innings of work.
Maria Gau earned the win for the Wildcats and improved to 2-6 on the season, allowing four runs on six hits in seven innings of work.
The Wildcats managed to sweep the doubleheader as CWU would eventually claim a wild, 15-14 win. The sixth inning would prove to be the difference in the day's second game as both teams scored six runs in the frame to give the Wildcats a 15-13 lead heading into the final inning.
Trailing 9-7 heading into the sixth, WOU would strike for six runs as the Wolves grabbed a brief lead.
Jourdan Williams and Harcourt each had two-run doubles to start the scoring while Gardner added a RBI double as the Wolves would take a 13-9 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.
The Wildcats responded; however, with six runs of their own as CWU would plate three with two outs to grab a 15-13 lead. The two-out rally started when Michaela Hazlett delivered a two-run double followed by Cassi Ellis' RBI single as the Wildcats held a two-run lead going into the final inning.
WOU would draw within one on
Desiree Villegas' RBI single; however, the Wildcats managed to work their way out of the late rally and pick up the game two win.
Williams took the loss for WOU and fell to 6-6 on the season after tossing 5.1 innings of relief as Taryn Smith improved to 1-0 on the season after allowing one run in 0.2 innings of work. Heidy Wells earned the save for the Wildcats.
Pomeroy led the WOU attack in game two, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. Williams added three hits, four runs and three RBI for the Wolves.
WOU will return to action on Saturday, March 23, when the Wolves host Simon Fraser in a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
