TURLOCK, Calif. – The Western Oregon softball team fell in the finale of pool play at the Tournament of Champions on Saturday night as Notre Dame de Namur claimed a 2-0 win over the Wolves. With the loss, WOU falls to 19-21 on the season while NDMU improves to 21-15.
S. McConvey proved to be the difference as the Argonauts starter allowed only one hit while striking out four as she moves to 8-6 on the season after tossing the complete game victory.
Hannah Pomeroy was the tough-luck loser for WOU as she fell to 10-6 on the year after allowing only one earned run on five its in six innings of work.
Notre Dame de Namur would get all of the runs it would need with two in the second as S. Honne scored on a double steal while B. Younr delivered a RBi single in the third to grab control of the game.
Amanda Evola picked up the only hit for the Wolves as she led off the contest with a single up the middle. WOU would only manage two base-runners in the loss as McConvey face one batter over the minimum.
WOU will close out action at the Tournament of Champions when the Wolves face the winner of Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
