BILLINGS, Mont. –For the second consecutive day, the Western Oregon softball team dropped a tough, one-run decision as the Wolves were eliminated from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Championship on Friday afternoon, falling to Central Washington, 3-2. With the loss, WOU concludes its season with a 27-26 overall mark.
“It was a tough way to end the season; but, I could not be prouder of the way our team fought all year,” head coach
Lonny Sargent said. “Our seniors were tremendous leaders throughout the year and they set a fantastic example for their teammates as the program continues to move forward.”
With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Cassi Ellis delivered the key hit in the contest as she singled home Adrianne DeLay for the walk-off victory.
WOU had an opportunity to take the lead in the top of the inning with the bases loaded and one out; however, left fielder Katie Focher made a perfect throw to home on a fly ball by

Lexi Orteza was out at the plate.

Amanda Evola gave the Wolves an early, one-run lead as she blasted her 10th home run of the season with a solo shot to right-center in the third gave WOU the lead.
CWU would answer with a pair of runs in the fourth when Maikala Galusha and Jill McDaniels scored on a single by Alexa Olague.
Jourdan Williams tossed a solid game for WOU in the loss, falling to 9-11 overall after allowing only two earned runs on six hits in six innings of work.
Maria Gau earned the win for CWU, moving to 9-12 on the season after allowing two runs on four hits as the Wildcats advanced in the double elimination tournament.
