MONMOUTH, Ore. – Makana Pundyke's goal in the 78th minute was enough to give the Western Oregon women's soccer team a key, 1-0 victory over Central Washington in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. With the win, WOU improves to 3-1-2 overall, 1-1-0 in league play.

After a scoreless first half, Pundyke delivered the game-winner with a little over 12 minutes remaining as she took a pass from Taylor Higa and defeated the CWU goal-keeper in a one-on-one situation to give the Wolves the win.

Once again, the WOU defense was stout, recording its fourth shutout of the season as Amanda Rose Johnson picked up the win, making three saves in net for the Wolves.

The performance was the latest in a string of strong defensive efforts as the Wolves have only allowed two goals through the first six games of the season.

The run of play was balanced throughout the 90 minutes as CWU finished the match with a slight, 13-12 edge in shots.

Savanna Moorehouse of CWU led all players with four shots while five WOU players each had two shots for the Wolves.

WOU will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 26, as the Wolves travel to Bellingham, Wash. To face Western Washington at 3:00 p.m.
