MONMOUTH, Ore. – For the second consecutive match, the Western Oregon volleyball team dropped a tough, five-set decision as the Wolves fell to Concordia, 3-2 (25-14, 23-25, 25-23, 17-25, 11-5), on Wednesday night. With the loss, WOU falls to 4-8 on the season while Concordia improves to 13-2 with the victory.

After WOU cruised to a 25-14 win in set one, the two programs split 25-23 sets as the Wolves took a 2-1 lead into the fourth set. Concordia responded with a convincing win in the fourth set before winning five of the final six points in the fifth and deciding set to take the match.

Samantha Moore led WOU with 13 kills while Krissi Kemper added 12 kills with a .423 attack percentage for the Wolves. Becky Blees led all players with 10 blocks as WOU managed to hold Concordia to a .186 hitting percentage for the contest.

However, it was not enough to overcome 12 service errors or three Concordia players with double-digit kills as the Cavaliers won their 11th-straight match.

Jackie Stein and Brianna Hogan each had 14 kills for CU while Lindsay Mangan led all players with 56 assists.

WOU's Maddie Kuther led all players with 35 digs while Jordin Ramos added 31 assists to lead the Wolves.

The loss dropped WOU to 1-5 in five-set matches this season.

WOU will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25, as the Wolves travel to Lacey, Wash., to face Saint Martin's at 7:00 p.m.
