No. 10 Vikings Sweep #WOUVolleyball

MONMOUTH, Ore.  – The Western Oregon University volleyball team was swept for the third straight match Thursday by No. 10 Western Washington University, 14-25, 14-25 and 18-25.
 
The Vikings (13-4, 6-2 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) won their third straight. They now hold an all-time series lead of 28-13. They led the match with a total attack percentage of .230 to WOU's .078. Western Washington also held an advantage in kills, 42-29, and aces leading five to zero.
 
Kayla Erickson was dominant for the Vikings, leading all players with a .483 attack percentage and 17 kills. She had just three errors in 29 chances and one block. Kristina Tribley was an assist machine with 38 of the team's 40 total. Rachel Roeder and Kelsey Moore each had eight kills. Samantha Hutchinson had 15 digs and Bryce Larson added 13.
 
The Wolves (2-14, 0-8 GNAC) were led by seniors Hannah Deede and Sam Moore. Deede finished with nine kills, three block assists and a .207 attack percentage. Moore ended the match with seven kills, two block assists and a team best .333 attack percentage. Jordin Ramos had 15 digs while Kiana Cash added 10. Sheila De La Cruz led all players with 28 digs.
 
WOU finished with an advantage in digs with 63-59 while also leading in digs with five to the Vikings' four. There were eight ties and four lead changes during the match.
 
The Wolves next host Simon Fraser University (11-5, 5-3 GNAC) Saturday at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of cancer awareness. Free shirts will be given to the first WOU students at the game.
