MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University softball team is in San Antonio, Texas, for the Rattler Invitational hosted by St. Mary's University.

The Wolves (2-7) enter a field of talented teams after winning two of its five games at the Desert Stinger tournament in Las Vegas. WOU will play six games over a three-day span beginning Friday. Amanda Evola and Kelsie Gardner were both named Second Team All-Tournament.

Gardner had a big week for the Wolves at the Desert Stinger. The freshman had nine hits in her 19 plate appearances. She had a .895 slugging percentage, hitting two home runs and two doubles. Gardner finished with nine RBI and six runs.

Evola posted almost identical numbers. She also had nine hits in 19 at bats. The junior had two home runs and two doubles during the tournament. She drove in eight runs.

TEAM OVERVIEWS

Eastern New Mexico (5-6): The Greyhounds enter the tournament winning four of their last five games.

Midwestern State (8-4): Riding a three-game winning streak, the Mustangs as a team are batting an impressive .340 as they look to bring their hot bats to the Alamo City.

Oklahoma Christian (3-4): With freshman Niki Davidson and senior Lauren Pittman both batting .400, they lead the Eagles into San Antonio combining for 10 of the team's 26 RBIs.

Rogers State (1-4): Scoring a total of only 12 runs in five games, the Hillcats look to turn things around in the young season this weekend.

Central Oklahoma (6-5): The preseason No. 1 team in the nation has played their first 11 games in neutral locations. Their first road game will be on Saturday against the host Rattlers, whom they lost to in Las Vegas earlier this month.

Tarleton State (7-8): Entering the tournament after dropping a doubleheader at home to StMU, the TexAnns look to bounce back.

Western Oregon (2-7): After starting the season in rough fashion, the Wolves come to St. Mary's winning two of their last three.
