BURNABY, B.C. – The Western Oregon University softball team won its seventh and eighth straight games with a pair of shutout wins, 6-0 and 11-0, at Simon Fraser University (B.C.) Friday.

The Wolves (15-10, 6-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) remained unbeaten in conference play and have now won 10 of their last 11 contests. After starting the season 0-6, WOU is 15-4 since. It cruised to Friday's sweep outscoring Simon Fraser, 17-0, in the two games.

Both Amanda Evola and Melanie Pfeiffer went 5-for-8 at the plate. Evola racked up six RBI with two doubles and her fourth home run of the season. Ashlie Gardner and Kelsie Gardner were both 4-for-7. Eryka Brill and Kelli Demianew had complete-game shutout victories on the mound. Demianew allowed four hits while striking out seven SFU (0-15, 0-6 GNAC) batters.

Seven Wolves went 2-for-4 at the plate in Game 1, as WOU had a season-high 15 hits to the Clan's seven. Evola had two RBI off of a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Danielle Harcourt had a double for the Wolves as well. Brill (5-1) struck out one batter and tossed no walks, while allowing seven hits.

Pfeiffer extended her conference-best 14 game hit streak with a 3-for-4 performance in the second game. Western Oregon finished with five extra-base hits in the nightcap, including a pair of doubles from Evola. She had four RBI in the win. Ashlie Gardner hit her third home run of the season, while Bridjet Box recorded her first, both driving in two runs.

The Wolves scored six runs in the second inning, and five in the third. Demianew (3-5) was stellar on the mound in the victory.

Western Oregon travels to Bellingham, Wash., for a doubleheader at Western Washington (10-5, 2-2) Sunday. The first game is scheduled for 12 p.m. Live stats will be available on WOUWolves.com.
