LACEY, Wash. – The Western Oregon University softball team swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader at Saint Martin's University, 2-0 and 4-3, Saturday.

On a cold day with light rain, the Wolves (28-18, 16-4 GNAC) grabbed pair of wins behind an outstanding day on the mound from Kelli Demianew. The junior won both decisions, allowing no earned runs in 10 innings of work. Her 1.83 Earned Run Average continues to lead the conference, and Saturday she proved why. Demianew (13-8) grabbed her third shutout of the season in the complete game performance in Game 1. She struck out six batters on the day, while allowing only six total hits.

At the plate, Amanda Evola went 3-for-8. She had two RBI, hit a double, and scored twice. Bridjet Box also had two RBI and hit her third home run of the season.

Western Oregon scored both of its runs in the third inning in Game 1. Evola's single to center field that drove in Pfeiffer would be the winning run. Jourdan Williams hit a double to right field and scored Evola for the second run. WOU outhit the Saints, 7-4 in the game. Both teams committed two errors, and both teams left seven runners on base in the contest. Sam Munger (17-14) was credited with the loss.

Saint Martin's (23-19, 12-8) opened the scoring in the second game with a run in the bottom of the first. Box's solo home run evened the score in the second inning. SMU tacked on two runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 3-1 advantage. Evola hit an RBI double and Box had an RBI single in the fifth inning to tie the score. Danielle Hannan scored on a Saints' error in the top of the seventh for the winning run.

Demianew threw the final three innings after coming in relief for Eryka Brill. Munger tossed the last two innings and received the loss. Western Oregon had a 7-6 hit advantage, but did commit four of the six errors in the game.

The Wolves return home for their final four regular season games next weekend. WOU welcomes Western Washington (27-11, 14-6) Saturday for a doubleheader and Simon Fraser (4-28, 2-14) Sunday for a pair of games on Senior Day.
