FULL NOTES (PDF)MONMOUTH, Ore. -- The Western Oregon University softball team returns home this weekend with doublehaders against Western Washington and Simon Fraser Saturday and Sunday. The Wolves have clinched a postseason berth already, but can clinch the regular season conference title with three wins this weekend. WOU will honor seven seniors on Sunday before the first game.
LAST TIME OUT• Western Oregon swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader at Saint Martin's University, 2-0 and 4-3, last Saturday.
• On a cold day with light rain, the Wolves grabbed pair of wins behind an outstanding day on the mound from
Kelli Demianew.
• At the plate,
Amanda Evola went 3-for-8. She had two RBI, hit a double, and scored twice.
Bridjet Box also had two RBI and hit her third home run of the season.
DEMIANEW NAMED GNAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK• After winning both decisions at SMU,
Kelli Demianew was named the GNAC Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season.
• Demianew allowed no earned runs in 10 innings of work. She grabbed her third shutout of the season in Game 1.
• The junior struck out six batters on the day, while allowing only six total hits.
CHAMPION TRACKING• Western Oregon has the chance to win the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season title for the second time in program history.
• The Wolves hold a two-game lead over WWU and Central Washington for first place in the conference standings with four games left.
• If WOU wins two games Saturday, and CWU loses one at Northwest Nazarene, then the Wolves clinch the title and the one-seed.
• If Western Oregon loses one game this weekend it will still finish with the fewest GNAC losses in program history.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING• The Wolves are eighth in NCAA Div. II averaging 0.52 double plays.

Kelli Demianew leads the GNAC with a 1.83 ERA. Her two saves and three shutouts also top the conference.
• In the GNAC,
Melanie Pfeiffer is third with a .414 batting average.
Amanda Evola and
Kelsie Gardner are sixth and 10th.
• Those three are first, second, and third in total hits; Pfeiffer (70), Evola (65), and Gardner (57). They also lead the conference in runs scored; Pfeiffer (44), Gardner (44), and Evola (41).
• Evola's 14 doubles, 43 RBI, and 97 total bases pace the GNAC as well.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK• Western Oregon is one double play away from 25, breaking the previous program record for the most in a single season set in 2012.
• Pfeiffer is currently first in highest single season batting average in program history.
• Pfeiffer broke the school's hits in season last week and is now at 70.
• Evola is two RBI away from tying the program's most in a single season.

Kelsie Gardner and Pfeiffer are three runs away from tying the program's most in a single season. Evola is six away.
