KANEOHE, Hawaii – The Hawaii Pacific University women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 non-conference victory over Western Oregon University Thursday.
 
There was plenty of offense in the Sharks (2-0) win. The teams combined for 35 shots, 22 on goal, and the four total goals. In the third all-time meeting between the programs, it was HPU that took an early lead and was able to add securing goal late.
 
Hawaii Pacific placed 15 of its 20 shots on the net, forcing the Wolves' Lindsey Mabinuori to make 11 saves in her collegiate debut. Erika Ellis and Lexi Cameau both took five shots, with Ellis putting four on goal. Ashlyn Ubongen and Breanna Gaddis both took four shots, and Ubongen put all four on goal. Ubongen finished with a brace.
 
In the 12th minute, Ubongen chipped a through ball over Mabinuori for the opening score. Six minutes later, Lei Kaina scored her first goal of the season. She placed a loose ball just inside the 18-yard box into the upper right hand corner of the net. Allison Frost got the Wolves on the board with a goal in the 36th minute. She volleyed in a cross from Taylor Higa. Ubongen's third goal of the season completed the scoring in the 72nd minute. She struck a through ball from Cameau into the back of the net.
 
Western Oregon (1-2) had a 6-2 corner kick advantage. Hawaii Pacific committed 16 of the game's 24 fouls. Kelby Boswell made five saves for the Sharks. Higa took five shots in the contest, placing one on the net.
 
The Wolves have one more game in Hawaii against Chaminade University Saturday. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. Hawaiian Time. Live stats will be available on WOUWolves.com.
