Box Score BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The No. 15 Western Washington University women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 1-0 victory over Western Oregon University Saturday.
The Vikings (7-0-1, 3-0-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) got the result they wanted on dedication night at Robert S. Harrington Field, its new home facility on the WWU campus. Western Washington equaled its longest home win streak in program history at 25 consecutive victories.
Western Washington's Brianna Jones found the back of the net in the 24th minute. She got her second goal of the season off an assist from Emily Webster.
The Vikings outshot WOU (3-4-1, 1-2-1 GNAC) 16-8 in the game. WWU put eight shots on goal, compared to Western Oregon's two. Western Washington also had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Amanda Rose Johnson made seven saves for the Wolves, while her counterpart, Ashley Haden, made a pair. Jessica Bertucci took three shots for WWU, and
Makana Pundyke and
Mariah Konyn both took two for Western Oregon.
