Wolves continue homestand with CU and SPU

Western Oregon soccer will face Concordia on Tuesday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Western Oregon soccer will start off the week early as they take on Concordia on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and then Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 10.
 
Last week, the Wolves had only one game to focus on as they faced Central Washington at home. The Wildcats put the ball in the back of the net in the first half, but Western Oregon made a thrilling comeback as Makana Pundyke led the charge with two goals in the second half. It took two set plays within seven minutes of each other to create the chances for Pundyke.
 
The Wolves will remain at home this week, using the momentum from last Saturday's win to continue pushing forward in GNAC play.
 
WOLFPACK ATTACK
The Wolves have scored at least one goal in seven out of the nine games. They stand third in the GNAC with 17 goals, and they have taken a total of 113 shots this season.
 
Pundyke is tied for second in the conference in goals with five. Vicky Cruz Rosales and Allison Sprecher are also couple of the league's top scorers as Rosales has four and Sprecher has three.
 
Several Wolves have taken their chances at goal as Pundyke has 23 shots, Taylor Higa has 16, Rosales has 13, and Mariah Konyn and Dacia Alexander each have 11.
 
Rosales, Higa, and Dana Goularte have also been supportive players as they each have two assists on their records.  
 
Overall, the Wolves have a number of players who contribute toward their offensive attack.
 
ABOUT CONCORDIA
A new addition to the GNAC, the Cavaliers have yet to lose a conference game this season, and they only have one loss on their overall record. They currently stand at second place in the conference behind Western Washington.                                                                     Last week, they defeated Saint Martin's, 2-0, on Thursday and Simon Fraser, 3-1, on Saturday.
 
Shannon McMahon scored one of the goals in the Saint Martin's game, and she also leads the team with three goals. Behind McMahon, Maddie Prehoda, Sydney Van Steenberge, and Karlie Hurley each have two goals, while six other Cavaliers have finished one goal this season.
 
Overall, Concordia has scored 15 goals this season, has only allowed four, and has taken 144 shots. They are tied in the league with Western Washington for their goals allowed statistic. Goalkeeper Olivia Brock, who has played in seven of the nine games, has made 29 saves and recorded four shutouts.

ABOUT SEATTLE PACIFIC
Seattle Pacific is two spots ahead of the Wolves in conference standings at fourth place with their 6-2-1, 2-2-1 GNAC record. Last week, Seattle Pacific fell to Western Washington, 1-0 on Thursday, yet ended the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.           
 
As Hannah Huesers scored two goals on Saturday against Northwest Nazarene, she is currently the scoring leader of the team and the GNAC with six goals. Additionally, Laura Moore has four goals and three assists this season, while 2014 GNAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year Isabel Farrell has one goal and three assists. Huesers and Farrell lead the GNAC in shots with 41 each, averaging 4.56 shots per game.
 
The Falcons have scored 12 goals, and they have six goals against them. They are second in the league with 176 total shots, averaging 19.56 shots per game.
 
Goalkeeper Molly Stinson has made 34 saves with four shutouts this season.
