TOP 10Since appearing in the NABC Division II National Top 25 for the first time ever on January 27, the Wolves have been making history with every win. This season, WOU was ranked 21
st in the preseason poll. After four wins and some shakeups near the top of the rankings, Western Oregon has cracked the Top 10 in the Nov. 24 poll. The previous high in the rankings was 15
th for WOU, achieved on February 17. Additionally, Western Oregon moved to No. 11 in the Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA (the Division II Sports Information Directors).
WOLVES WEEK IN REVIEWWOU improved to 4-0 to start a season for the first time since 1984-85 with two victories at home last weekend during the Doubletree by Hilton D2 Shootout. The Wolves picked up a 79-67 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday and sprinted out to an early lead to defeat Warner Pacific 87-68 on Saturday.
D-FENSE, D-FENSEThrough four games, Western Oregon leads the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in steals per game (11.25) while ranking second in turnover margins ( 6.5) and assist/turnover ratio (1.55).
LEADING THE PACKSenior forward
Andy Avgi made his return to the floor last Friday after spending the previous four months playing tight end for the Western Oregon football team. The GNAC Preseason Player of the Year showed very little rust in averaging 22 points and six rebounds over the weekend. Avgi scored a game high 24 points on 11 of 14 shooting on Saturday against Warner Pacific. Five players, including Avgi, are averaging double figure for WOU - sophomore

TRIALS OF THE ARGONAUTSThe Argonauts are searching for their first win of the season with a 0-3 record. Friday's game will be the sixth matchup between the schools and the first since the Wolves knocked off NDNU 73-51 in 2012. The Argos have been led center Korey Serna, who averages 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
HAWKS TRYING TO SOARThe Hawks entered the week 1-3, but dropped a Tuesday decision at San Francisco State to fall to 1-4. Saturday's meeting will be the first in the all-time meeting with the school out of Oakland, Calif. HNU is being led by Joshua Crum (20.8) and Dante Robinson (20.4) who combine for more than half of the 77.4 points per game scored.
WOLVES - A LOOK AHEADGNAC league play begins next week with a split schedule. The Wolves open up defense of the 2015 regular season championship on the road at Concordia Portland on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and will host Montana State Billings on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. inside the New P.E. Building.
