Western Oregon closes out a road-heavy beginning of the season with a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest at Dixie State. The Friday night, Oct. 2, matchup will kickoff at 6 p.m. Mountain (5 p.m. Pacific) from Sark Arslanian Field at Hansen Stadium.

TICKETS -WOU fans heading to Utah can purchase tickets for the game online through the DSU Ticket Office. Reserved seating is $10 per ticket and general admission is $7. The majority of seats are on the west side of Hansen Stadium, but there is limited bleacher seating on the visitor's side (east). Tickets for remaining WOU home games for 2015 are on sale atWOUWolves.com/WOUtickets. The Wolves have five home games remaining at McArthur Field - Oct. 10 vs. North Alabama (1 p.m.), Oct. 17 vs. Central Washington (1 p.m., Homecoming), Oct. 31 vs. Azusa Pacific (1 p.m.), Nov. 7 vs. South Dakota Mines (3:30 p.m.) and Nov. 14 vs. Humboldt State (1 p.m.).

VS. DIXIE STATE -This will be the 16th meeting between the Wolves and the (soon mascot changing) Red Storm. Western Oregon holds a 12-3 advantage and has won the last five meetings in the series. In the last meeting, WOU scored the first 16 points of the game and held off a DSU second half rally to win 19-14 at McArthur Field. Trey Shimabukuro threw for 303 yards on 27-of-34 passing. Paul Revis had nine grabs for 121 yards and 206 all-purpose yards.

GAME FIVES THROUGH HISTORY - Western Oregon is 5-5 under Arne Ferguson in the fifth game of the year. In the last two seasons, WOU has lost in the season's fifth game (2013: 34-32 APU at home, 2014: 30-10 at North Alabama). The last win in the fifth game came is 2012 with a 20-7 victory at Azusa Pacific.

LOOKING FOR A ROAD W - Western Oregon is 0-3 this year on the road being outscored 100-39. The last road win for the Wolves came in the 2014 finale, an 18-15 triumph in the snow at South Dakota Mines.

WOLVES BY THE NUMBERS -Western Oregon enters the week ranked second in the GNAC in total defense (356 yards allowed per game), pass efficiency defense (112.7) and punting (33.4 yards per punt). In the Division II stats, Western Oregon is ranked 25th in team tackles for loss with 8.3 per game.

SPREADING THE WEALTH - Twelve different players have caught a pass for Western Oregon this season. Nine of the 12 have caught at least two passes, led by Paul Revis and Wesley Gray with 19 catches each. In the running game, nine different players have had touches in 2015.

GETTING BEHIND THE LINE - After recording just one sack in the first two games, the Western Oregon defense has recorded seven sacks combined against Central Washington and Portland State. Defensive lineman Michael Kluge leads the Wolves with 3.5 sacks.

SECOND HALF SCORING -WOU has scored 51 of its 70 points in the second half this season. In comparison, opponents have scored 31 points in the second half.

A KICK AHEAD -PunterAlexander Bradtranks 35thin Division II with his average of 40.5 yards per punt. Last week, Bradt had 12 punts with a 40.0 average.

ALL-PURPOSE PAUL -While limited in his return opportunities the last two games, Paul Revis enters the week ranked 28th in Division II with 273 combined return yards. Revis is also fourth in the GNAC with 137.5 all-purpose yards, third with 65.5 receiving yards per game and fourth with 18.5 yards per kick return.

KING TREY-MEHAMEHA -Trey Shimabukuro leads the GNAC with an average of 269 yards per game and is second in the league with 248.8 yards of total offense per game. The senior is 29th in Division II with 1,076 total passing yards.

LOOKING AHEAD -Western Oregon begins a two-game homestand with its final non-conference matchup against No. 8 North Alabama on October 10 at McArthur Field.

2015 IN REVIEW

COMEBACK CUT DOWN BY JACKS:Humboldt State scored the first 19 points of the game and held off a Western Oregon comeback to post 29-20 victory in a rare week one GNAC contest. Western Oregon got on the board late in the first quarter when quarterbackTrey Shimabukurofound Andy Agvi on a 16-yard touchdown pass with 4:02 left in the first half. The Wolves cut the lead to five when Shimabukuro foundPaul Revisfor a 33-yard touchdown strike before the Lumberjacks scored the next 10 points to close out the game. Shimabukuro completed 26 of 38 for 368 yards and three touchdowns to lead Western Oregon. Revis caught six balls for 116 yards and a score.

WOLVES CAPITILIZE ON SECOND HALF CHANCES AGAINST SFU:Western Oregon trailed Simon Fraser in nearly every statistical category except touchdowns and the final score as the Wolves beat the Clan, 31-14, at McArthur Field. Simon Fraser outgained Western Oregon in total offense 442 to 294, including 333 passing yards by quarterback Ryan Stanford, but the Wolves scored the final four touchdowns of the score to come back from a 14-6 deficit midway through the third quarter. The Wolves came within 14-12 on their next possession withTrey ShimabukurofindingDaniel Thomasfor a 23-yard touchdown reception. Western Oregon took the lead for good when Shimabukuro foundWesley Grayfor a 32-yard touchdown strike with 14:02 left and made it a 25-18 game when he foundKamakana Apelufor the 35-yard scoring pass.Danny Hankinspunctuated the win when he intercepted Stanford with just over a minute left, returning the ball 99 yards for a touchdown. Shimabukuro completed 18 of 28 for 233 yards and three touchdowns for Western Oregon. Gray caught six balls for 69 yards and a touchdown.Shane Kuenzieach had 10 tackles.

HAIL HANKINS -WOU defensive backDanny Hankinswas named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week 2. The Portland, Ore. native made eight tackles, broke up two passes and had a 99-yard pick-six in the final minutes to seal Western Oregon's 31-14 home win over Simon Fraser..

CWU'S SCORE BARRAGE SINKS WOLVES ON ROAD:Central Washington came home after two weeks on the road and scored 40 points in the first half to get past Western Oregon 40-19 at Tomlinson Stadium. AfterPhillip Fenumiaiopened scoring with a five-yard run four minutes into the game, the Wildcats scored 40 unanswered points. Western Oregon scored two second half touchdowns, one on aJoe Harristhree-year run and aDaniel Thomassix-yard reception. Western Oregon outgained Central Washington on offense 331-300.Trey Shimabukuroled WOU by completing 23 of 46 for 293 yards and a touchdown.Paul Revisled six WOU receivers with 76 yards on seven catches.

WOLVES STYMIED AT PSU: The near upset that Western Oregon put together last year wouldn't be repeated as Portland State's vaunted defense held the Wolves in a 31-0 loss at Providence Park. The Wolves put together 224 yards of total offense, but the Vikings forced 12 punts and picked off WOU quarterbacks three times. Western Oregon held their own early, with the No. 17 (Division I-FCS) Vikings not scoring until Alex Kuresa scored on a two-yard run with 9:51 left in the first half. Western Oregon quarterback Trey Shimabukuro completed 18 of 35 passes for 182 yards with two interceptions. Maurice McSwain caught two passes for 52 yards and Daniel Thomas caught four balls for 44 yards.
