Â
Western Oregon (11-2, 4-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) played nearly flawlessly in the opening half, shooting 54.8 percent from the floor (17 of 31) to lead 42-27 at the break. Avgi was 15-of-22 from the field becoming the first WOU player to make at least 15 shots in a game since Dave Porter hit 17 field goals against Kearney State during the 1981-1982 season.
Â
Brendan Carroll had all 18 of his points in the second half as SPU erased a game-high 18-point deficit to force overtime with a layup from Bryce Leavitt in the final seconds. The Falcons were led by center Gilles Dierickx with a career-high 25 points.
SPU never led at any point in the game while seeing the Wolves spurt out to a 14-4 run behind consecutive lay-ins from Avgi, a corner 3-pointer from
Alex Roth and charity shots from
Jordan Wiley. The WOU defense made two big stops in the final minute of overtime to hold on for the victory.

WOU closes out its home weekend hosting Saint Martin's on Saturday at 9 p.m. in a game broadcasted on ROOT Sports Northwest.
