FRESNO, Calif. – Junior shooting guard
Demetrius Trammell hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points to lead Western Oregon past host Fresno Pacific, 85-54, in the final game of the 2016 PacWest/GNAC Challenge Saturday night in the FPU Special Events Center.

WOU connected on 16 3-point buckets as a team, the most since a school-record 20 on Dec. 16, 2014, at home against Multnomah.

Six Wolves scored in double figures as junior
Tanner Omlid posted his second straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also filled up the stat sheet with six assists, four blocks and two steals in 22 minutes.
Yanick Kulich added 12 points off the bench, while
Ali Faruq-Bey also chipped in 12 points.
Akil Reese and
Bryan Berg rounded out the sextet in double figures with 10 points each.

Western Oregon led from wire-to-wire after opening the game on a 5-0 run. A pair of Kulich free throws built the first 10-point lead with 8:05 left in the first half. Trammell hit back-to-back 3-pointers at the 4:02 and 3:19 marks for the biggest lead of the opening 20 minutes at 45-21.

WOU led at halftime, 51-31, and extended their advantage to 32 points (75-43) with a Trammel triple and  jump shot from sophomore
Malik Leaks.

The Sumbirds (0-2) trimmed the lead to 29 with consecutive connections from distance, but Faruq-Bey erased the run knocking down two long 3-pointers under the 5-minute mark.

Omlid's six assists came with just one turnover, helping the Wolves finish with 18 assists on 29 made baskets.

Rafail Eleftheriou led Fresno Pacific with 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting for the night.

Western Oregon opens the home portion of their schedule next weekend hosting the WOU/Doubletree by Hilton D2 Shootout. On Friday, WOU plays San Francisco State at 7:30 p.m. The next night, UC San Diego returns to the New P.E. Building for a rematch of the 2016 NCAA Division II West Region Final, tip at 7:30 p.m.
