MONMOUTH, Ore. – Ali Faruq-Bey led five Western Oregon players in double figures totaling 21 points with eight rebounds, but a 16-game winning streak inside the New P.E. Â
Bryan Berg registered 15 points,
Buster Souza scored a career-high 14 while
Tanner Omlid and
Demetrius Trammell each finished with 10 for the Wolves (2-1).
Â
San Francisco State (3-0) built a 16-point lead in the second half, but not secure the victory until outscoring WOU in the third overtime, 9-3.
Â
A.J. Khalon totaled a monster double-double on the night with 18 points (9-12 FG, 10-12 FT) and 23 rebounds, the most allowed to a single player since the 2013-14 season. The Gators also received 23 points off the bench from Warren Jackson and 14 more in a reserve role from Derrick Brown.
Â
Playing in their first home game since the 2016 NCAA West Regional Final, the Wolves trailed at the half by six and saw the Gators hold a 10-point lead at the 6:31 mark of the second half. Western Oregon closed regulation on a 13-3 run. Souza banked one home while a triple from

Â
San Francisco State scored the first four points of the first overtime period and led by as many as seven, 73-66, midway through the OT period. Â
The Wolves got out to the early advantage in the second overtime with a Berg triple and jumper from Faruq-Bey to lead 84-80. It was the Gators who climbed back in the lead with a Kahlon layup after a steal for a 90-89 lead with three seconds left. Looking for room up the middle of the floor, Faruq-Bey was fouled near the half-court stripe and went to the line with 1.6 ticks left. The junior made the first to tie the game at 90-90 but missed on the potential game-winner forcing the third OT.
Â
Khalon scored seven of the Gators' nine points in the third overtime to seal the road victory.
Â
In all, San Francisco State held Western Oregon to 35.2 percent shooting from the floor and 26.7 percent from behind the 3-point arc. WOU bested the battle of the boards, 53-51, but were forced into 21 turnovers.
Â
