STORYLINES
•   The Western Oregon men's basketball team returns to action at home on Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener against Concordia at 7 p.m. WOU then faces a quick turnaround, traveling to Eugene on Wednesday, Nov. 30 to face No. 23/20 Oregon at 7 p.m.
•   Tuesday's meeting will the 38th meeting all-time with the Cavaliers, but only the third since Concordia became a NCAA Division II school last season. The Wolves won both meetings last year and have won three straight in the series.
•   The meeting with the Ducks marks the second straight year Western Oregon will play in a regular-season counter game at Matthew Knight Arena. WOU fell last year, 88-60, despite begin tied with Oregon early in the second half.

LAST TIME OUT
•   Western Oregon traveled to St. George, Utah for the Dixie State Thanksgiving Classic inside the Burns Arena.
• The Wolves trailed at the half, but powered past Westminster College in the second half to post a 65-58 win on Friday evening.
•   Western Oregon's bench accounted for 28 points, including 10 points each from Akil Reese and Malik Leaks.
•   Tanner Omlid posted his third road double-double of the year with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He added five steals and two blocks.
•   On Saturday, the Wolves rallied from an early first-half deficit, but could not catch the host Trailblazers of Dixie State in a 78-73 loss.
•   Western Oregon forced 18 turnovers against Dixie State, but DSU had 20 assists on 25 made buckets to shoot 51 percent for the game. Western Oregon was 25 of 70 (35.7 percent) for the night, including 10 of 33 from 3-point land.
•   Ali Faruq-Bey led a balanced WOU offense with 15 points, four rebounds and four steals. Tanner Omlid had 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
 
ABOUT WESTERN OREGON
• Western Oregon is averaging 73.8 points per game on the season and owns a scoring margin of +2.8.
• The Wolves are shooting 38.9 percent from the field, including 33.3 percent from 3-point range.
• WOU is averaging 12.5 free throws a game and is shooting 67.6 percent from the stripe this season.
• Western Oregon is averaging 36.2 rebounds per game, but has faced a -4.6 rebound margin in 2016-17.
• Western Oregon is averaging 14.5 assists, 12.2 turnovers, 9.3 steals and 3.2 blocks per game.
• Ali Faruq-Bey enters the week leading the Wolves in scoring averaging 13.7 points per game.
• Faruq-Bey is also averaging 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
• Tanner Omlid is the only other WOU player averaging in double figures at 12.8 points per game. He has the only three double-doubles posted for Western Oregon this season, all coming in road games.
• Seven players, in all, average 6.7 points or more a game.
• Head coach Jim Shaw is in his second season at Western Oregon. Shaw was the 2015-16 GNAC and NABC West Region Coach of the Year. His previous assistant coaching stops include Saint Mary's, Washington, Oklahoma, Portland, Montana State, Southern Utah, Oregon State, Chemeketa and Idaho State.
• New faces appear on Shaw's bench with the addition of Gage Aker, Zach Payne and Jalen James to the coaching staff. Josh Reber is the only assistant coach to carry over from the 2015-16 staff.
• Western Oregon was picked to finish sixth in the 2016-17 GNAC regular season title race by the league's coaches.
 
ABOUT CONCORDIA
• Concordia returns to the New P.E. Building just 11 days after playing in the WOU/ Doubletree by Hilton D2 Shootout. The Cavs picked up a non-league win, 109-81 against Multnomah on Nov. 22.
• The Cavaliers are 2-3 overall on the year entering Tuesday's GNAC opener.
• Concordia went 7-20 last season and 5-15 in the GNAC during its first year of NCAA Division II play.
• Drew Martin leads three CU players averaging double figures at 17.0 ppg. He is shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and rips down 5.8 rebounds per contest. Christopher Edwards is averaging 12.2 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds, while Latrell Wilson is at 12.0 ppg.
• Concordia is coached by Brad Barberick, in his 23rd season in Portland.
 
ABOUT OREGON
• Oregon enters the week ranked 23rd in the AP Coaches poll and 20th in the USA Today Media Poll. The Ducks play Boise State at home on Monday to open a nine-game span of games in-state that will take them to the end of the calendar year.
• The Ducks lost their opening game last week at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational to Georgetown (65-61), but responded with wins in the consolation bracket over Tennessee (69-65, OT) and UConn (79-69).
• Oregon enters the week averaging 70.8 points per game while allowing 66.0 ppg.
• UO has shot 42.2 percent from the field, including 30.3 percent from behind the 3-point line,
• Oregon is averaging 17.0 made free throws per game and is shooting 73.4 percent from the stripe.
• The Ducks are averaging 38.3 rebounds, 13.2 assists and 15.7 turnovers per game.
• Dana Altman is in his 6th season as head coach at Oregon and is one of only six active coaches in NCAA Division I with 19 consecutive winning seasons. He is part of an exclusive fraternity that includes Mike Krzyzewski (Duke), Tom Izzo (Michigan St.), Roy Williams (UNC), Bill Self (Kansas) and Jim Boeheim (Syracuse).
