MONMOUTH, Ore.—The Western Oregon University (1-7-1, 0-4-1 GNAC) women's soccer team will face the first of four straight road tests at Central Washington University on Saturday, Oct. 7. Kick off against the Wildcats is set for 11 a.m.
ABOUT CENTRAL WASHINGTON (1-5-3, 0-2-2 GNAC): The Wildcats are 0-3-3 in their last six contests with the team's last win a 2-1 victory at Northwest University on Sept. 7… CWU is 1-2-1 in road matches… Last week, CWU lost 2-0 to No. 1-ranked Western Washington and tied Saint Martin's 1-1… Scoring six of the team's 12 goals, Mackenzie Nolte leads the team with 13 total points… Scoring three times this year, Sophia Kennan is the only other Wildcat with multiple goals while Whitney Lilly holds the team lead with three assists… Emily Holt, meanwhile, has played the bulk of the minutes in net for CWU and holds a 1.66 goals against average and a .811 save percentage which ranks No. 2 in the GNAC.
LAST WEEK: The Wolves went 0-2-0 last week with a 3-0 loss to Concordia and a 2-1 loss in double overtime against Seattle Pacific… Both CU and SPU were ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA DII West Region Poll…
Amber Whitmore scored for WOU in the 23rd minute against SPU on Saturday before the Falcons evened the match in the 84th minute... The Falcons completed the win with a goal in the 103rd minute.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Wolves will continue its season-long four-match road trip at Montana State Billings on Thursday, Oct. 12 and at Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, Oct. 14... WOU has two home matches remaining on the schedule with Saint Martin's University traveling to Monmouth on Saturday, Oct. 21 and Simon Fraser University making an appearance on Saturday, Oct. 28.
OVERTIME: Three of WOU's nine matches this season have not only gone into overtime, but have advanced to the second overtime period… All three OT matches have been home matches… The Wolves are 0-2-1 in OT matches with a 3-2 loss in the season opener against Biola (Aug. 31) and a 2-1 loss to Seattle Pacific (Sept. 30)… The Wolves earned a point in a 1-1 tie against Montana State Billings (Sept. 23).
TOMASINO NAMED GNAC POW: With two goals in the second half against Chaminade, freshman
Alyssa Tomasini was named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11… Tomasini broke the stalemate in the 64th minute against the Silverswords and returned with her second goal of the day in the 81st minute to preserve the first win of the season for the Wolves.
WOU ATTACK: Six different WOU players have scored a goal so far this season with freshman
Alyssa Tomasini the lone player to find the net more than once through the first four contests… The team's six assists have come from five different players…

IN GOAL: Sophomore
Caitlin Kastelic has played all 855:30 minutes for the Wolves between the pipes… Kastelic holds a 2.53 goals allowed per match average and a .671 save percentage… Kastelic is third in the GNAC with 49 total saves this season… With 1,540 minutes logged a year ago, Kastelic played all but 10 minutes in goal during her freshman campaign for the Wolves in 2016.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: The Wolves feature eight freshmen and six sophomores on the roster… Defender

GNAC PRESASON POLL: With 23 points in the poll of the nine head coaches, the Wolves were picked to finish eighth in the GNAC Preseason Coaches' Poll… The Wolves ranked higher than Saint Martin's (11 points) while being edged in points by Northwest Nazarene (26 points)… Defending national champion Western Washington earned all nine first-place votes for 91 points and was followed by Central Washington (62 points) and Concordia (58 points).
2016 RECAP: The Wolves went 5-11-1 overall in 2016… With a 2-9-1 record in GNAC play, WOU placed seventh in the league standings… WOU opened the year with back-to-back wins against George Fox and the Academy of Art… The Wolves experienced two overtime games a year ago, taking a loss at Saint Martin's on Oct. 6 and returning with a double-overtime win at Concordia on Oct. 18.
