BELLINGHAM, Wash.—The No. 2-ranked Western Washington University volleyball team extended its winning streak to 22 matches with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-25, 25-8) win over Western Oregon University on Thursday.
Western Washington (23-3), fresh off of clinching the GNAC regular-season title, remained undefeated in conference play with an 18-0 mark. The Wolves fell to 6-19 on the season and 3-15 in league action.
The Vikings outhit the Wolves in each set and finished with a .390 to .019 edge in hitting percentage. In addition, WWU created an 8.0-1.0 edge in blocks.
Western Oregon was led by five kills by senior
Marlie Norman.
Abby Phelps paced the Vikings with 13 kills.
Mariella Vandenkooy and
Sierra Stultz reached double figures in digs for the Wolves with 10 digs each.
The Wolves will continue its road trip north to face Simon Fraser University. Opening serve is set for 5 p.m. in Burnaby, B.C.
