MONMOUTH, Ore.—Looking to make its conference record seventh straight GNAC Tournament appearance, the Western Oregon baseball team announced its 2019 schedule this week.
The Wolves open the regular season on the road with four games at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho on February 8-10 and will turn around to play a second straight road series with a three-day stretch at Fresno Pacific on February 14-16.
"We are excited for the early season tests where we will face two frontline programs," WOU head coach
Kellen Walker said. "LC-State and Fresno Pacific have talented rosters top to bottom and will be extremely well coached. These two early season road series should help us prepare for the week in, week out battles we will face in the GNAC."
The team's home debut will also be its GNAC opener as the Wolves welcome Montana State Billings to Monmouth on March 2-3.
Other home series for 2019 include: Concordia (March 16-17), Saint Martin's (March 30-31), Northwest Nazarene (April 5-6) and Central Washington (April 19-20).
The season is scheduled to conclude at Saint Martin's on May 3-4 with the GNAC Tournament set for May 8-10 in Portland, Oregon.
"The conference will be strong from top to bottom again and winning a weekend series in the GNAC always requires a high level of play and contributions from your entire roster. Our club is excited for the challenges ahead and eager to play in front of our home fans after the improvements to our facility," Walker said.
Western Oregon has captured 14 regular-season GNAC Championships since 2002. The Wolves are the only program to make an appearance in every GNAC Tournament championship since the event's inception in 2013. WOU has captured six GNAC Tournament crowns over the last six seasons.
